Itineraries
Day 1
THE ADVENTURE BEGINS - DEPART FOR DAR ES SALAAM, TANZANIA
Your journey begins as you board the airplane from your port of departure to Dar es Salaam, the port city of Tanzania.
Day 2
ARRIVAL AND REST - ARRIVE IN DAR ES SALAAM, TANZANIA
Sleep comfortably in an air-conditioned room operated by a charitable partner in Tanzania. Take the opportunity to recoup from the journey and remain in the comfortable center all day or join other members of the group in exploring the largest city in Tanzania. Our driver will take you to an amazing souvenir market and a white-sand beach along the beautiful Indian Ocean.
Day 3
YOU'LL BE ON A SAFARI AT SERENGETI NATIONAL PARK
Experience the most famous wildlife park in Africa from the open top of a Land Cruiser. View the Big Five, often times from only feet/meters away. The Serengeti is one of the ten natural travel wonders of the world.
Day 4
JOURNEY TO THE TABORA REGION - WHERE JUMA’S WORLD BEGAN
The team will travel by airplane or land cruiser to central Tanzania. The experience of rural Africa begins here. You will see the endless plains spotted with baobab trees before passing through small villages, and waving to smiling kids all the way.
Day 5
VISIT PRIMARY SCHOOLS - GET READY FOR HUGS
The young children in primary schools love visitors. The school master will have trouble keeping the children from hugging, smiling, laughing, and high-fiving with visitors. The team will be introduced to students through a translator, while members will be able to speak with the children inside and outside the classrooms. Bring some soccer balls or footballs for a great time at recess, and work as a team to creatively teach something to the vibrant, energetic children. Suggested activities and games will be overseen by members of your team.
Day 6-7
EXPLORE VILLAGE LIFE - PARTICIPATE IN THE DAILY LIVES OF VILLAGERS
The greatest memories shared by travelers in Tanzania always seem to come from the time spent working and connecting directly with locals. Juma’s World partners directly with local villages on projects including homes for children and water wells. You will work with local villagers on projects by day, and overnight with a family in a hut by night. Besides construction and hands-on volunteer activities, days may be filled by more visits to the local schools or excursions to other sites within Tabora region that are partnered with Juma’s World.
Day 8-11
CREATIVELY EMPOWER - WORKING WITH AIDS-ORPHANED CHILDREN
The greatest memories shared by travelers in Tanzania always seem to come from the time spent working and connecting directly with locals. Juma’s World partners directly with local villages on projects including homes for children and water wells. You will work with local villagers on projects by day, and overnight with a family in a hut by night. Besides construction and hands-on volunteer activities, days may be filled by more visits to the local schools or excursions to other sites within Tabora region that are partnered with Juma’s World.
Day 12-13
RETURN TO DAR ES SALAAM - VISIT SUNRISE BEACH RESORT
A short ferry ride away from Dar es Salaam, lies a beautiful resort on a white sandy beach. You’ll enjoy the moments of insightful reflection. Remember to take a journal to collect your thoughts and record the meaningful memories from your time with the children and villagers. Overnight in this comfortable resort and spend another day together on the beach with team members before returning home.
Day 14
DEPART FOR HOME - RETURN VIA DAR ES SALAAM
Juma’s World staff will transport team members to Dar’s International Airport, where you’ll board a morning flight home.
- International and African domestic airfares. *Based on select US and Canadian Cities for departure to Dar es Salaam.
- 2 or 3 meals per day.
- All hotels and guest houses throughout itinerary.
- All transport (skytrain, minibus, bus, taxi and domestic airfares).
- Airport transfer to and from international airport.
- All in-country transportation is included.
INSURANCE & TRIP POLICIES
- Full Medical coverage is required for all travelers. We offer insurance or send us proof of insurance.
- Final deadlines for posted rates are up 6 weeks before commencement of travel. A late registration fee applies for travels commencing in less than 6 weeks.
- We reserve the right to cancel any itinerary where we don’t meet the minimum number of travelers, which is usually 4-6.
- Consumption of drugs or alcohol intoxication is grounds for dismissal from the trip. There are times during the itineraries where alcohol may be consumed, but not during the entire itinerary out of respect for the organizations we partner with.
- Optional Excursions or extended stays (we can help you plan them!)
- Passport and visa fees, if applicable
- Excess baggage charges which may be levied by airlines
- Meals and beverages other than those included/provided
- Personal purchases or expenses (eg. laundry, gifts)
Travelers have to be 18 years of age to partake in our trips. Exceptions apply to travelers under the age of 18 when traveling with a parent or as part of a school trip.
- We collect copies of all passports, medical and travel insurance, emergency contact information, and dietary and medical requirements well in advance of the trip.
- Emergency communication is available 24 hours a day between our in-country team and our headquarters.
- Purified bottled water is available at all times and all food is prepared by cooks who are trained in proper food preparation. Our teams stay at same locations visit after visit. This way we get the same food and service each time we go.
- All transportation is run by our trusted private transportation providers.
- Participants are not encouraged to wander on their own outside accommodation premises.
- Trip leaders have years of extensive travel experience and training. Leaders provide daily guidance and briefings to team members to keep them safe.
- BLT keeps abreast pre-trip of travel advisories from both the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
The 15% down payment is refundable for 48 hours, and final payments are refundable in full up to 90 days in advance of travel. Finalized airline tickets are purchased soon after payment is received. This makes it impossible to refund the money closer to departure dates.
While vaccinations may not be necessary, we recommend double-checking this with a medical professional such as your GP or a travel doctor in regards to the specific country you are travelling to. Also, making an appointment with a medical professional for a basic health check-up at least eight weeks before you depart is recommended.
Most phones will work as long as it is not locked to a network in your home country. If so, remember to get it unlocked before you leave, that way when you reach your destination, you can get a sim-card and use their local network. Check with your provider as far as expenses go for using phone overseas.
This is really a personal decision. You may want money for extra food at airports etc. On top of that there will be opportunity to buy gifts and souvenirs for yourself and family members. We always recommend to bring U.S. currency as it is welcomed everywhere.
